Webinar overview
Designing for durability: Testing, ecomodulation, and circular compliance
As the shift toward the circular economy continues, durability is emerging as a top priority for the consumer product industry. With upcoming regulations such as the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes like ReFashion in France, manufacturers are under increasing pressure to prove their products are built to last, and to back up those claims with verifiable data.
This regulatory momentum is part of a broader transformation. Circular economy principles are reshaping product development by emphasizing longevity, repairability, and reuse. The ESPR places particular prominence on these circularity features, requiring that they be verifiable by market surveillance authorities. In fact, the European Commission referenced durability no fewer than 16 times in the ESPR - underscoring that it is no longer a desirable feature, but an essential one.
To meet these expectations, durability testing is becoming a foundational step. It not only supports compliance with ESPR but also helps manufacturers prepare for the upcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP) - a future where transparent, data-driven product information will be the norm. Additionally, durability testing contributes to alignment with other key regulations, including the EU’s Green Claims Directive, France’s AGEC law, and potential EU EPR regulations for textiles.
At the same time, ecomodulation is introducing a powerful financial incentive. By rewarding more sustainable and durable products with lower eco-contributions, it encourages manufacturers to embed circular economy principles into product design from the outset.
Join us to discover how you can future-proof your products, avoid greenwashing risks, and benefit from ecomodulation incentives through robust, credible durability testing.
This webinar will explore:
- Why durability is essential in achieving circularity, reducing waste, and meeting new compliance demands
- How durability testing can verify product claims and support transparency in environmental labelling
- How Eurofins' durability testing services and verification marks can support compliance, marketing, and innovation strategies
Who should attend:
Whether you're in manufacturing, retail, or compliance, this session will equip you with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complex landscape with confidence.
