About EN 71 testing
EN 71 testing is a comprehensive evaluation process established under the European Union's Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC which is a harmonised European toy safety standard to ensure that toys marketed within the EU are safe for children.
The EN 71 testing consists of several parts, each focusing on specific safety aspects of toys such as toy's design, chemical composition, and mechanical properties. Its objective is to mitigate potential risks that toys might pose to children, ensuring that they meet strict safety requirements.
To sell products in the EU, compliance with EN 71 is a legal requirement.

Notified Body to issue CE marking for toys
Having your toys pass the EN 71 testing is only one part of the compliance process.
Under the European Union's Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, all toys sold in the EU must carry a CE marking (some refer to it as an EN 71 certification or CE toy safety standards).
A common way to achieve this compliance requirement is through third-party verification by a EU Notified Body (applying for the EC-type examination to a Notified Body).
Our laboratory in France, Eurofins ATS, operates as a Notified Body (2817) for CE marking of a wide range of toy products, assisting toy brands and manufacturers in conducting tests and completing documents related to the conformity assessment procedures set out in the European Union's Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC.
