For the UK market (UKCA Marking):
Eurofins E&E CML Limited is a UK Approved Body (No. 8175) for three major types of PPE categories of PPE – protective clothing, safety shoes, and protective gloves – in compliance with the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations (Regulation (EU) 2016/425 aligned with UK legislation and amendments) and the Personal Protective Equipment (Enforcement) Regulations 2018.
Gardening Gloves & Oven Gloves Testing & Certification
For the EU market (CE Marking):
Gardening gloves fall under Category I PPE and do not need a CE mark. Although third-party certification is optional for Category I PPE, manufacturers can enhance the safety and quality of their gardening glove products by testing them with a reputable third-party laboratory.
On the other hand, oven gloves are classified as Category II PPE, necessitating certification by a Notified Body in Europe. Our laboratory in Spain is a Notified Body (No. 2865) capable of providing CE Marking certification for both gardening gloves and oven gloves.

Currently, gardening gloves do not need third-party certification or the UKCA Marking. Nevertheless, manufacturers have the option to undergo testing with a trusted third-party laboratory to showcase the safety and quality of their gardening glove products, distinguishing themselves in the market.
Oven gloves are required to bear a UKCA Marking and adhere to the specifications of Regulation 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment. This mandates certification by an Approved Body. Our laboratory, Eurofins MTS Consumer Product Testing UK, is an Approved Body (No. 2377) authorised to provide UKCA marking certification.
Disposable Gloves Testing & Certification
For the EU market (CE Marking):
Testing requirements for gloves vary significantly depending on their intended use. For instance, disposable gloves designated for use to protect the user from chemical or biological risks must adhere to standards like EN ISO 374 and are subject to different classification types based on the range of chemical liquids they are tested against.
Given the intricate nature of regulatory demands concerning various types of disposable gloves across diverse markets, we highly recommend reaching out to us for a comprehensive consultation.

For the US market (ASTM standards):
For the U.S. market, disposable medical gloves should be tested according to ASTM standards, depending on the type of gloves and its use.
We offer testing and certification services for the following disposable gloves per ASTM standards in the US:
- Nitrile examination gloves for medical application
- Rubber examination gloves
- Poly(vinyl chloride) gloves for medical application
- Rubber surgical gloves

In addition, the gloves are intended to give mechanical protection to the hands and wrists in accidents.
